Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 23, 2026
Last updated: September 4, 2026
Vow is a wedding planning tool at tryvow.co. This policy explains what information Vow collects, why, who it goes to, and what you can do about it.
Vow is operated by Tryvow LLC, a California limited liability company ("Tryvow LLC", "we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at hello@tryvow.co or 2108 N St, Ste N, Sacramento, CA 95816.
Vow was previously operated as a sole proprietorship by Emily Jung. As of August 20, 2026 it is operated by Tryvow LLC. The same person runs it and nothing about how your information is handled has changed.
1. Who can use Vow
Vow is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, email us at hello@tryvow.co and we will delete it.
Vow is currently available only for weddings taking place in the United States. If you enter a location outside the US, we will not create an account for you and will offer to email you if that changes.
2. What we collect
Information you give us directly
Account information. Your name, email address, and password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are stored hashed. We never see your password in readable form.
Wedding details. The information you enter during setup and afterward, including partner names, wedding date or season, location, guest count, budget, venue setting, and any inspiration text you write.
Planning data. Anything you add as you use Vow: budget line items and estimates, vendor names and contact details, checklist tasks, day of timeline entries, music preferences, shopping list items, seating charts, and notes.
Guest information. Names, party or household groupings, age category, meal preferences, RSVP status, plus ones, and table assignments for the people you invite. See section 3, this is information about other people and it matters.
Uploads. Images you upload for inspiration or vision boards, vendor contracts you upload for review, and floor plans.
Payment information. If you get Vow+, payment is processed by Stripe. Vow does not receive or store your full card number. We receive a customer identifier and the last four digits of the card. We keep a record of that purchase and whether your access is active. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
Information collected automatically
Session and authentication data. When you sign in, our authentication provider stores tokens in your browser so you stay signed in. These are necessary for the site to work and cannot be turned off while you are using an account.
Technical data. Our hosting provider logs standard request information including IP address, browser type, and pages requested. These logs are used for security and debugging.
Timezone. Your browser reports its timezone so Vow can show times correctly. This is stored on your profile.
We use PostHog, a third party analytics service, to understand how people use Vow. It receives an account identifier and simple usage events, never your name, email, guest list, vendors, or budget figures. We do not use advertising trackers.
3. Information about other people
This is the part most privacy policies skip, and it applies to you.
When you add guests or vendors to Vow, you are giving us personal information about people who have not signed up for Vow and have not agreed to this policy. That includes guest names, dietary needs, RSVP status, and vendor contact details.
Your responsibilities. You should only add information you are entitled to share. Do not add information a person would object to you sharing. Meal preferences and dietary restrictions can reveal health or religious information, so treat that data carefully.
What we do with it. Guest and vendor information is used only to operate your account. We do not contact your guests. We do not contact your vendors. We do not sell, rent, or share this information with anyone for their own purposes.
Deletion. If someone you added asks to be removed, you can delete them from your account directly. If they contact us instead, we will pass the request to you and delete the record ourselves if you do not respond.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Provide the planning features you use: budget, checklist, vendors, guests, seating, timeline
- Compute the estimates and insights Vow shows you, including budget benchmarks, cost per head, sunset time, and seasonal weather ranges
- Answer your questions through Text Vow, our AI chat feature
- Review vendor contracts you upload and pull out dates, amounts, and action items
- Send you transactional email: password resets, receipts, and messages about your account
- Keep Vow secure and debug problems
- Process payments if you get Vow+
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your wedding data to train AI models, and we have chosen providers and settings so they do not either. See section 5.
Transactional email only. We do not send marketing or promotional email. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and give you a way to opt out before sending anything.
5. AI processing
Vow uses AI to answer your questions, review contracts, and generate suggestions. This means some of your information is sent to AI providers outside Vow.
Who receives it. Anthropic, and Voyage AI or OpenAI for search indexing. Vow currently uses Voyage AI.
What gets sent. Depending on the feature, this can include your wedding date, location, guest count, budget figures, vendor names, checklist state, inspiration text, and images you have uploaded. When you use Text Vow, the content of your messages is sent along with the context above so the answer is specific to your wedding. If you have uploaded a contract, its text is included each time you ask Vow a question, so answers can account for it.
What they do with it. Vow uses these providers through their business APIs, with training disabled where a provider offers the choice. Your inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. Providers may retain data briefly for abuse monitoring as described in their own policies.
What this means for you. If there is something you would rather not send to a third party, do not put it in Vow. Notes fields and chat messages are the most likely places for this to happen.
6. Who else we share information with
We use a small number of service providers to run Vow. Each receives only what it needs.
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and authentication | All account and planning data, stored at rest |
| Railway | Application hosting | Request traffic, server logs |
| Anthropic | AI features | See section 5 |
| Voyage AI | AI features | See section 5 |
| OpenAI | AI features | See section 5 |
| Resend | Sending email | Recipient addresses and the contents of invite and account emails |
| Google Maps Platform | Resolving your wedding location | The location text you enter |
| Open-Meteo | Seasonal weather ranges | The coordinates of your wedding location |
| Stripe | Payments, if you get Vow+ | Payment details, email, Vow+ access status |
| PostHog | Product analytics | An account identifier and usage events, counts and categories only, never names, email, guests, vendors, or budget figures |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, if we need to protect someone's safety, or if Vow is ever sold or transferred, in which case we will tell you first.
7. Where your information is stored
Vow's database and hosting are located in the United States. If you access Vow from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and stored in the US.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. When you do, we delete your profile, planning data, guest list, uploads, and chat history from our active systems. Deleting your account from account settings takes effect right away. Copies may briefly remain in our database provider's routine backups after deletion.
Waitlist emails. If you join a waitlist, we keep your email until you ask us to remove it or until the waitlist closes.
What we keep after deletion. We may keep records we are legally required to keep, such as payment records for tax purposes.
9. Your choices and your rights
You can:
- See your information. It is all visible in the app. If you want an export, email hello@tryvow.co.
- Correct it. Edit anything from within the app.
- Delete it. Delete individual items, or your whole account, at any time.
- Ask questions. Email hello@tryvow.co and we will respond within 30 days.
We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these.
If you are a California resident
California law gives residents rights over their personal information, including the right to know what is collected, to request deletion, to request correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
Vow does not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. The other rights are available to you through the app or by emailing hello@tryvow.co.
We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond providing the service.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Vow uses browser storage for one thing: keeping you signed in. These tokens are set by our authentication provider and are required for the app to function.
11. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers. Access to production systems is limited to the operator of Vow. Passwords are hashed and never stored in readable form.
No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and notify you by email or in the app before the changes take effect. Continuing to use Vow after that means you accept the updated policy.
